Previous speculations have it that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is launching two new smartphones in 2015 -- the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 7. However, such information is countered by recent claims, which seem to suggest otherwise.
The iPhone 6s, believed to be a refresh of the standard flagship, is still expected to arrive this year (September), but the allegedly waterproof iPhone 7 is rather eyed for a 2016 appearance.
Interestingly, recent reports hint that Apple could launch two more models beside the iPhone 6s -- a 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus and a 4-inch iPhone 6c.
The iPhone 6s Plus is dubbed to be a revamped iPhone 6 Plus, while the iPhone 6c, according to NDTV, is set to replace the iPhone 5c.
Followers would remember that word surrounding an iPhone 6c isn't entirely new. In 2013, CNET reported of an iPhone 6c concept that draws much inspiration from the brightly-colored iPhone 5c, even coming up with a curved screen reminiscent of the LG G Flex.
Last year, reports also indicated that Apple is unveiling a 4-inch iPhone in 2015, speculated to be the iPhone 6c or a "high-spec" iPhone 6 Mini.
Apple is no newbie in the creation of 4-inch smartphones. Previous releases such as the iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s and iPhone 4 have all taken lengths beginning from the margin.
If the Cupertino giant is looking forward to bring a revamped iPhone 5c, how is it going to fare in the market? In an earlier article, Trusted Reviews commented that the iPhone 5c is a flop, and we could only wonder how an iPhone 6c performs this time.
The device, just like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, is reportedly equipped with an LTPS panel, Corning Gorilla Glass, NFC and fingerprint-scanning technology, DigiTimes noted.
However, unlike these 6s models suggested to house A9 chips, the iPhone 6c is said to pack an A8 processor. Its screen is allegedly supplied by Japan Display, LG and Sharp.
BGR is convinced that there are still people who value possession of phones that are easy to place within pockets. The outlet cited in another report that the iPhone 6c should cost "somewhere between $400 and $500."
Needless to say, smaller phones offer the convenience of single-handed use, and in a world where one's hands normally multitask, a 4-inch iPhone 6c may just be appreciated.
As told by Macworld, some people feel that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is already "too big." That being said, the outlet is likewise convinced that Apple should launch an iPhone 6c, even adding that it's a necessary move for Apple to break into the huge markets of China, India and Africa.
