Javier Rosas is in critical condition after a shooting attack in Mexico, according to reports.

The incident happened on March 22 in the parking lot of a shopping mall located in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Billboard noted. He was reportedly riding a white Suburban SUV with three companions, two of them have died.

One of the victims who was killed was Rosas' cousin, Carlos Almaral, and the other one was the driver, identified as Adolfo Antonio Lizarraga, Borderland Beat detailed.

"Rosas, who suffered two bullet wounds -- one in his thorax and the other in his leg -- is being treated at a local hospital, while his manager, Rafael Barraza, is said to be recovering at home. Local sources state Rosas underwent surgery. His condition is been described as critical, following a significant loss of blood," Billboard reported.

According to eye witness accounts cited by the music site, Rosas was still able to run towards the entrance of the mall's department store to get help. The identity of the shooters and their motive are still unknown.

Even before the tragic incident, Rosas was also involved in another shooting attack reported in December 2014. He was performing at a night club when nine shots were fired, injuring one man.

Violence, death haunt grupero singers

Earlier this month, another grupero singer, 17-year-old Alfredo Olivas, was shot twice on stage while performing in Chihuahua, Mirror Online noted. Olivas dedicated a song to a woman in the audience but her jealous boyfriend went on a rampage. He is said to be recovering and in a stable condition.

Another shooting victim was Rogelio "El Chicken" Contreras Rivera of the band Kumbiamberos RS. According to The Associated Press, he was kidnapped on March 15 "as he played for a crowd of about 400 people at a bar in northern Mexico, and his dead body was found shortly thereafter."

Meanwhile, DEL Records singer-songwriter Ariel Camacho, 22, has also died following a car accident which happened on February 25.

Rosas, whose real name is Javier Arturo Rosas Almaral, recently took home the Micrófono de Oro or Golden Microphone award in Miami, Florida, Billboard added. The award, hosted by El Patrón 94.5 FM, was given by the Asociación Nacional de Locutores de Estados Unidos (Spanish Language National US Broadcasters Association) to recognize Latin artists who rank consistently on the radio.

The "La China" singer is set to embark in a U.S. tour together with his band, "La Artillería Pesada," the news outlet noted.
