Beta developers may be busy at work. Apple Inc. has rolled out the latest update for the OS X Mavericks operating system.

Apple launched OS X 10.9.1 for developers and members of the Cupertino-based company's AppleSeed program featuring the build code of 13B35.

The OS X 10.9.1 beta is apparently the second version Apple released as the first update had build number 13B27.

According to notes accompanying the OS Mavericks beta update, several fixes were included for Gmail in OS X Mail as well as enhancements for the Smart Mailbox. An emoji bug fix with VoiceOver is featured in the beta as well as improvements to Safari.

Finally, an improvement is included for the compatibility of the VPN server in OS X Server.

As MacRumors noted, registered developers and AppleSeed members can obtain the beta update via the software update tool in the Mac App Store.

Apple launched OS X Mavericks on Oct. 22, following a special keynote presentation featuring the debut of the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display. The OS X Mavericks was also announced to be available for free.

The new Apple desktop operating system made an impact within its first 24 hours of launch. According to Chitika Insights, devices with the OS X Mavericks platform represented 5.5 percent of the North American Web traffic within 24 hours of its release. The adoption rate of the new Apple operating system outdid its predecessor OS X Mountain Lion, which accounted for 1.6 percent during the same period in 2012.

The quick rise of OS X Mavericks could have been the result of the software's price, since it is offered for free. Apple's previous operating system, OS X Mountain Lion, was price at $19.99 when it launched in 2012.
