After her great 14-second victory against Cat Zingano, Ronda Rousey will reportedly face Bethe Correia at UFC 190 on August 1 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Citing Brazilian outlet Tatame, Yahoo Sports noted that Rousey could be facing Correia for the main event but there is still no official word from the UFC about the rumored fight.
If the fight will really materialize, Correia will get the match she's been wanting to happen since last year after she defeated Rousey's teammate Jessamyn Duke.
Yahoo Sports recalled that after winning the fight, Correia "held up four fingers, turned them upside down, and plunged them to the floor." It added the the gesture "was meant as a warning to Rousey and Duke along with teammates Marina Shafir and Shayna Baszler - a.k.a. the 'Four Horsewomen.'"
Yahoo Sports added that Correia has already "set her sights" on the undefeated Rousey who is currently the UFC women's bantamweight champion.
Of course, Rowdy also expressed her interest to fight Correia and defend her title in the territory of the enemy.
According to Fan Sided, she said: "I want to go and fight [Correia] in Brazil and beat her in her hometown. That would be the best way I could really feel like I've vindicated my friends, to go to her hometown and beat her in her hometown and be total 'Rocky IV' on it."
Though there is this so-called "home-court advantage," Yahoo Sports still bets on Rousey to take the win as she has already beaten ten of her opponents during the first rounds of their fights.
Despite the mutual "interest" of the two fighters to go against each other this summer, Yahoo Sports said there could be a hindrance to this considering that Rousey already announced the she will be working on Peter Berg's new movie "Mile 22."
Rousey's appearances in some Hollywood films like "The Expendables" was criticized by Correia, saying Rowdy is "too involved" in this entirely different field. Correia reportedly said that the Rousey needs "to defend her belt" to be considered a champion, a statement which was a bit confusing taking into account that Rousey has indeed fought to maintain her title.
If Rousey vs Correia will indeed happen in a few months time, people would expect that Rowdy's fight with Cristiane Justino will be next in line. But Justino still has to shed some pounds to come down to 135 and challenge Rousey for the bantamweight belt.
There's still a lot of possibilities on who Rousey will fight next but one thing is sure. The champion is ever-ready to bring her game to the Octagon.
