Aside from her various commitments in the film industry, Jessica Alba is also keeping busy through The Honest Company, an institution the actress co-founded which manufactures eco-friendly and non-toxic consumer goods.

"We give people access to safer and healthier options to live a better life," Alba said of her company, as quoted by Fox News Latino. "Education is a huge piece of what the Honest Company is all about: empowering people with knowledge, so they can make better choices."

According to Fox News Latino, The Honest Company's success has been steadily rising. The business venture "has been valued at $1 billion by the Wall Street Journal" and was "listed on Forbes' hottest startups of 2014." The company is also set to be unveiled publicly this year, with Alba revealing that it has gained $150 million in revenue in 2014.

The 33-year-old actress recently attended the 30th Anniversary Impact Awards Gala for the "Independent School Alliance for Minority Affairs," an organization that focuses on the promotion of "racial diversity in private schools and address issues of multicultural education," Fox News Latino wrote. Alba presented the event's Visionary Award to Brian Lee, CEO and co-founder of The Honest Company.

During the awards gala, the actress stated that she supports the mission of Alliance, and that she believes in "equal opportunity" for education, the news outlet noted.

Discussing her company's environment-friendly products with Domaine, the "Barely Lethal" star shared that their popular aromatic soy candles had undergone improvement and reformulation.

"Our candles are clean and safe, but they also feel luxurious and have such a delightful scent," Alba told Domaine, adding that they used soy milk and vegan ingredients from "natural essential oils to unadulterated plant essences."

She continued, "Our clean-burning soy wax is GMO-free, U.S. grown, and hand-poured in small batches. It's finished with an unbleached 100% cotton wick--we're conscious every step of the way. We wanted a range of scents that weren't polarizing and felt familiar yet fresh. A scent gives a sense of groundedness--it's memorable enough to inspire nostalgia, but not overwhelm."
