The third chapter for "Insidious" is supposed to be the scariest one yet, and Screen Rant reported that it will take its audience back to the earlier days - before the events of the first chapter happened.

However, instead of watching Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) and his family try to evade the evil in their home, we will be watching another version of the demon haunting Quinn Brenner and her father, to be played by Stefanie Scott and Dermot Mulroney.

Written and directed by Leigh Whanell, "Insiduous 3" is going to be the prequel to the franchise which was launched in 2011, but with medium Elise Rainer (Lin Shayne) still performing exorcisms in the film. Whanell will also be reprising his role as Specs, who is one-half of the paranormal investigation duo with fellow Australian actor, Angus Sampson, who plays Tucker.

The new chapter, as USA Today noted, introduces Mulroney and Scott as a father-daughter tandem. They accidentally catch a nameless evil entity instead of the mother that Quinn lost to lung cancer.

Whanell, who will be taking the reins for the third chapter said about the film, as quoted by USA Today: "It doesn't matter what culture you go to in the world, there's always a belief in the afterlife, and it fascinates me. To me, it's really about the human need to know that life doesn't end when you die, that it goes on in some form."

Whanell and director James Wan are working together to bring more evil in "Insidious 3," but this isn't the first project that they scared the pants off people. USA Today added that the pair was also responsible for creating Jigsaw in the "Saw" series, as well as the creepy doll, Billy, from "Dead Silence." However, The Man Who Can't Breathe, the villain in "Insidious 3" is Whannel's favorite.

The writer-director noted that horror villains are "scarier the less they talk and the less we know about them." He also shared where he got the idea for the villain, saying, "When I was younger, I had some troubles with some asthma. There is something very primally scary about not being able to breathe ... and his breath is like the Jaws theme of the film."

The official description of the film, as noted by the Comic Book website, reads: "The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity."

The film will premiere in theaters on June 5. Check out the chilling new trailer below:
