In the eyes of a Marvel fan, it may be safe to say that superheroes, in the easiest of ways, are identified through the costumes they wear.
That is why Miles Teller's recent spill of details are very much appreciated. In a dialogue with ScreenCrush, the "Fantastic Four" star reveals that earlier photos, depicting the character's looks, are "beta versions."
Playing Reed Richards, Teller shares, "These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great..."
"But, yeah it would be very odd if the 'Fantastic Four' didn't don the traditional costumes. You've got to. There is some servicing there. You've got to give that to the fans. That's what it's all about," he affirms.
If you haven't seen these beta costumes, check out IGN's earlier cover here. The outlet says they look "practical," and we tend to agree at some point.
For a reference, the feeling of seeing our F4 heroes dressed in those gears is comparable to Effie Trinket's transition from a Capitol escort to a District 13 rebel.
On the other side of the coin, these beta costumes appear to indicate character maturity, among other interesting themes that we're yet to see from the film. Note that we will be seeing a reboot, and for a clearer picture, it may help to review its suggested synopsis (via Cinema Blend):
"The Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."
According to ScreenCrush, Teller says the "highly uncomfortable" beta suits will appear in the majority of the film, which airs on August 7. But with his revelation, fans can definitely look forward to the conventional get-up F4 characters are known for. Perhaps we could expect a little twist in colors and cuts, but that's just a speculation.
Alongside Teller (Mr. Fantastic), "Fantastic Four" casts Kate Mara as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (The Thing).
Teller is also part of the film adaptation of Veronica Roth's dystopian "Divergent" series. The franchise's second installment, "Insurgent," hits theaters on Friday.
