DC is definitely catching up on the superhero franchise, with "Arrow" three seasons in, its spinoff, "The Flash," getting great reviews, and both shows spawning yet another spinoff featuring characters from both shows.

Screen Rant noted that among the characters confirmed are Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer (aka Atom) and Caity Lotz as Sara Lance (aka Black Canary) from "Arrow" and Victor Garber as Martin Stein (aka one half of Firestorm) and Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart (aka Captain Cold) from "The Flash". Robbie Amell, who plays the other half of Firestorm, Ronnie Raymond, was not announced in the lineup.

The Arrow / The Flash spinoff is still currently in development by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, who are also in charge of "Arrow," "The Flash," and the upcoming female superhero series, "Supergirl," starring "Glee" actress Melissa Benoist as the titular character.

A report from Variety however, noted that Captain Cold will be joined by another villain in the DC universe, and one that "hasn't been used yet."

Berlanti explained how they wanted the team to be a ragtag group, saying, "In picking them, it was very much about picking, 'who are some of the most popular characters we've created?' and also, tonally, who went with who? How disparate could we make it? And we're also introducing these three new characters that we're casting right now... I think it's really important that we have another female hero on the show, and this one is really exciting. I can't wait for people to find out - we just have to cast it right, as always. And then you want that Rat Pack-y kind of vibe of all this crew hanging out, as disparate and as different as they are."

Variery also noted that "Arrow" and "The Flash" already featured iconic villains from the DC universe, including Ra's Al Ghul, Deathstroke, and Reverse Flash, which means that the production is under pressure to reveal someone worthy for the spinoff.

It seems that another character has also been tagged as a potential mainstay for the spinoff, with rumors of Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory (aka Heat Wave) joining his co-villain in the new series, as reported by Deadline. However, before the duo heads off to the new series, they will be appearing as co-villains for another "The Flash" episode later in the season.

"The Flash" airs 8PM on Tuesdays, and "Arrow" at the same time on Wednesdays on the CW. Check out the teaser for the next episode of "Arrow". Their spinoff series is expected to air mid-season next year.
