Disney's plans for the live-action version of its beloved 1991 classic "Beauty and the Beast" is taking shape as the studio announced recent additions to the already star-studded cast.

In January, "Harry Potter" actress Emma Watson announced via her Facebook page that she's playing the role of "Belle" in the Bill Condon film. In an interview, the actress called the role challenging, telling Total Film," I've never had to [sing] for a film before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that. It gives me a different challenge, really. That's terrifying in and of itself!"

Then, last week, other cast members have also been confirmed including "Downton Abbey" alum Dan Stevens as the Beast / Prince Adam, Luke Evans as Gaston, and Josh Gad as Gaston's sidekick Le Fou.

It has been noted that Josh, who also played Olaf, the summer-loving snowman in Disney's 2013 hit, "Frozen" is the first American actor to be cast.

Now, the Daily Mail confirmed two more characters have been added to the cast: Mrs Potts, the head housekeeper who turned into a teapot, will be played by Emma Thompson, and Maurice, the strange inventor who happens to be Belle's father, will be played by Kevin Kline.

The film will be directed by Bill Condon ("The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn") and produced by Mandeville Films' David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, with a script written by Evan Spiliotopoulous and rewritten by "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" author, Stephen Chbosky.

The Daily Mail also noted that unlike the recently released live-action version of "Cinderella," "Beauty and the Beast" will feature original songs for the main cast to perform. USA Today noted that eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, who won two Oscars for the animated film version in 1991 will score the film, which features new recordings of the original songs, as well as several new ones that he wrote along with Sir Tim Rice.

The highly anticipated film is set to be released on March 17, 2017, as reported by Variety, and shooting will begin by May at the Shepperton Studios in London.

"Beauty and the Beast" is among the many animated films that Disney has in line for live-action versions as well as of "The Jungle Book" and an "Alice in Wonderland" sequel down the line. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Cinderella" opened to $68 million domestically over the weekend.

Are you excited to see Emma Watson and Emma Thompson in the same film again after Harry Potter? What do you think of the rest of the confirmed cast?
