When word about Samsung's "Project Zero" hit the media, claims of an all-new flagship -- bound to kill existing rivals -- immediately went viral. Prior to the company's "Unpacked" event, four Galaxy S6 models were rumored to arrive.

But Samsung showcased only half of that number. As things turned out, the standard Galaxy S6 and its sexier, Galaxy S6 Edge companion came before our eyes, while the Galaxy S6 Mini and Galaxy S6 Active remain to be subjects of undying speculations.

Today, reports surrounding the Galaxy S6 Active have become louder. In a recent article, SamMobile claims to have "insider sources," who appeared to spill a slew of interesting details on the Active's specs.

To some, the specs list may not be surprising, since most of them are already packed in the existing S6 models.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S6 Active (SM-G890A) flaunts the similar 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED+ display. Under the hood, it houses 32 GB of onboard storage, 3 GB of RAM and the Exynos 7420 SoC processor.

A 16 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper are likewise expected.

It must be noted, however, that the standard Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have been cut from having one feature present in their predecessor. Followers would know that it's none other than waterproofing, and for a Samsung device that goes with an "Active" branding, we can only expect the feature's comeback.

For those who may not know, the Galaxy S5 is IP67-certified. Simply put, the handset may be submerged at a depth of 1 m for a maximum duration of 30 minutes.

In case you haven't heard, the next iPhone is purported to own waterproofing abilities. Based on a recently-published patent, Apple plans to secure integral components through a process called plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (PACVD).

So how is the Galaxy S6 Active going to be different?

As told by Technology Tell, the alleged device sports a measurement of 73.6 x 146.9 x 8.8 mm. The standard Galaxy S6 comes at 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm.

That being said, the Active looks to be a larger variant, and one other component possibly explains why. The Active is purported to be powered by a 3500 mAh battery, and that's a beast at this point.

The standard Galaxy S6 owns a 2550mAh battery, Forbes noted. Still, the Active looks to be in advantage over the Galaxy Note 4 and Nexus 6 -- both of which are powered by 3220mAh batteries.

Needless to say, the Active is believed to be water- and dust-proof, though details on the level of protection remain unknown.

The Galaxy S6 Active is expected to land on AT&T first. Forbes expects to see the device's price to "fall between the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge." It is eyed for release, the earliest, in May.

Earlier reports have pegged the Active to come with a 5.5-inch display.

We could still be far from confirming the Active's durability, but a massive battery and waterproofing are certainly not ignored.
