When it comes to honoring the one person who made a huge impact on his life, Tyler Posey only has one in mind -- his mother.

Posey's mother, Cyndi Garcia Posey, succumbed to breast cancer in December, Cambio reported. For Tyler, his mom is still the bravest person, which is why he chose to honor her in the fifth episode of Zoe Saldana's AOL show titled "My Hero," Latin Times reported. 

"My Hero" is a short-form web series which follows "different celebrities in every episode as they pay a surprise visit to someone who helped change their lives," The Hollywood Reporter explained.

In the episode, which was taped before his mother died, Posey surprised his parents by showing up at their home with a box of pizza, Latin Times detailed.

"She's just been this rock. She knows how much we love her. She deserves to hear it," the actor said. He then told his mother that she was the reason why he stayed positive and that "she's kept this family while she was sick," Latin Times noted.

"You're the most amazing person; you kick ass, mom," the 23-year-old heartthrob said. He then called her his hero. Posey's mother, while in tears, declared, "[Hero] is not usually a label that's given to me."

Even though his mom's passing left a huge dent in his life, Posey said that he is thankful for the outpouring of love and support he received from his friends, family, and fans. Through his YouTube channel, the actor bravely revealed how he coped with his mom's death, and how he wants to inspire others going through the same situation.

"I was literally reading some of the comments last night [on the video] and people were really touched by it . . . and that's what I wanted," he shared in an interview with Cambio. "The biggest thing I wanted to convey is that you're not alone."

He added, "I'm going through some crazy sh*t and these poor kids that are going through the same thing . . . I just want them to see they're not alone. And I want them to gain something from me, because I'm handling it pretty damn well, and I'm not at times, and I'm okay with that."

The actor also revealed to Cambio that he aims to use his YouTube channel to inspire and encourage people. He had second thoughts about discussing his mother's passing, but he conjured enough courage to share what he experienced.

"I didn't know if I really wanted to do it, but I'm so happy I did. It opened more doors for me to be open," he said, as quoted by the news outlet.
