It was in 2008 when the last update of the "Persona" series was released, and after over five years, "Persona 5" is in the works, but with fans worrying that the previous success may cause the developers to get stuck trying to break their own record.
According to Master Herald, there doesn't seem to be any problem about "Persona 5" and it seems that the game is coming along just fine, however, the producers were surprised at the fan's reactions to "Persona 4" and are still trying to come up with new and original concepts for the next installment.
It has been noted that "Persona 5" has come with a lot of style, and possibly a worthy successor to the last release, but according to series art designer Shigenory Soejima, the fans have been contacting the studio about the game's new and more stylish looks, and the company is a bit confused on whether to take this as a positive thing. On one hand, who wouldn't want a stylish game? However, on the other, die-hard fans love the game as it is, and they will probably not enjoy is if it's changed too much.
The rest of Atlus felt the same, with Persona series director Katsura Hashino saying via Gaming Bolt, "It's been a massive outpouring and we're really happy to see people are into it as much as they are. It's a huge relief to all of us on the team to have things turn out that way. Still, it's also indicative that the anticipation is running really high among people who have enjoyed our work up until now, so it's not without some pressure coming our way, too."
But while design and aesthetics have a lot going on for the game, here's the more important update: the gameplay itself.
According to Venture Capital Post, the title's hero - student by day, thief by night - will be encountering "unnatural entities" and could summon his personas and facets of his psyche. Hashino said about the game, "One of the goals in making 'Persona 5', then, is to give those people an outlet to explore those thrills and experience that sense of freedom that the protagonists themselves have within the context of a game. Although that being said, I won't deny that a lot of us were also just way into stories about good-natured thieves like Lupin III growing up, too."
"Persona 5" is expected to launch exclusively on PlayStation 3 later this year.
