The holiday shopping season is officially upon us, and gamers and family members of gamers are scrambling to find the best gifts available for those on their shopping lists. To help those trying to figure out what the hot new games are, here the top five holiday 2013 video games available, with what consoles the game appears on included.

5. Battlefield 4 (Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC)- The realistic first person shooter has gotten better ratings than it's more popular rival, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and represents a more complete experience for fans, especially on next gen consoles. With many different multiplayer modes and a solid single player campaign, Battlefield 4 should get lots of attention leading up to the holidays.

4. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag (PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U)- This game, available on a wide variety of console, manages to shine no matter how player's choose to play the game. The game almost serves as a standalone entry in the series, so users do not have to worry much about being confused by the story. Throw in a well constructed open world and a tense multiplayer mode and the game is a good choice as a stocking stuffer.

3. Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)- For those looking for something special on the Wii U, Super Mario 3D World is one of the best games of the year, and it is only available on the Nintendo console. The game is tons of fun, features bright and crisp graphics, and is more family friendly than many other games on the list. Super Mario 3D World is a must-buy for the struggling console.

2. FIFA 14 (PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, 3DS, Vita)- This game has been available for several consoles for several months now, and is one of the best sports games available on those consoles. However, the game takes a big leap on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and is hands down the best sports game available on those consoles after their November launches.

1. Grand Theft Auto 5 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)- The latest Rockstar epic is most likely going to be one of the best selling games of 2013, and for good reason. The game is huge, features both a massive single player and online mode, and will have continuous free DLC available for users to explore. Simply put, if fans have not already picked up the game, then they deserve receiving the game during the holiday.
