March is going to be a big month for movies as eight big titles are expected to arrive on the big screen. With awards season finally over, it's time to concentrate on what Hollywood will be giving this year to both cinephiles and casual movie-goers.
As listed by The Hollywood Reporter, this month's anticipated films to watch kicks off with Neill Blomkamp's "Chappie," (which opened on March 6) the latest robot film starring Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Sigourney Weaver, and Sharlto Copley as Chappie, the police robot with human emotions.
"The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," which opened on the same weekend is the sequel to "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," which earned $136 million worldwide and nominated for several awards. The sequel stars Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, and Dev Patel, with Richard Gere, Tamsin Greig, and David Strathairn as additional cast members.
The live-action version of one of Disney's princess fairytale, "Cinderella" will be on the big screen on March 13, opening with "Frozen Fever," the highly anticipated short film sequel to 2013's hit animated film, "Frozen." Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the film stars Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother, Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother, and Lily James as the titular character, with "Game of Thrones" star Richard Madden as the Prince.
"Insurgent", the sequel to last year's "Divergent" will be arriving on March 20. The film adaptation to Veronica Roth's trilogy is helmed by Robert Schwentke and includes Shailene Woodley as the lead character, with Kate Winslet, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, and Miles Teller.
The biggest weekend however will be the closing for March 27. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence's third collaboration "Serena" will close the month. Together with "Serena" is "Home," the only Dreamworks Animation film featuring the voices of Rihanna, Jim Parsons, Jennifer Lopez, and Steve Martin.
It will also be the same weekend that will see Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart together in "Get Hard" while Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts try to relive their youth in "While We're Young."
A complete list of films for March has been listed by Movie Insider, and includes plenty of dramas, comedies, and even a few documentaries including "Merchants of Doubt", "A Year in Champagne," and "The Wrecking Crew" which will be released in limited theaters only.
Which of these films are you most excited to see this month? Tickets are available for purchase online via the Fandango website.
