Leonard Nimoy's iconic role as Mr. Spock from the "Star Trek" franchise has opened a lot of tributes from fans all over the globe and one of them came from "The Big Bang Theory" creator Chuck Lorre.

Nimoy is a big part in the lives of "The Big Bang Theory" geeks. It has been noted by CNN that he's the personal hero of Emmy-award winning actor, Jim Parson's character, Sheldon Cooper, who invented a game with Nimoy's character called "Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock."

Earlier in the show, a napkin bearing Nimoy's signature (and as it turned out, DNA, much to Sheldon's excitement) became one of the most memorable scenes from the sitcom.

Although he didn't make an appearance in the show, Nimoy also lent his voice to an episode when he appeared as an action figure Spock in one of Sheldon's dreams.

As a final tribute for the Sci-fi actor, Lorre used one of his "vanity cards" to pay his respects to Nimoy at the end of last Thursday's episode. The card simply had a black and white photo of Nimoy, with a short message saying, "The impact you had on our show and on our lives is everlasting."

Lorre, who has been known to use his vanity cards to weigh in on a lot of topics (according to the Los Angeles Times, he even wrote about his feud with former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen) and the one line for Nimoy is touching as any tribute could be.

"The Big Bang Theory" co-creator Bill Prady is also a fan of Nimoy's and was one of the writers for "Star Trek: 30 Years and Beyond" TV special in 1996.

Leonard Nimoy died last Friday at the age of 83 from the end-stage of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in his Los Angeles home.

Many more mourned the death of the actor, including US President Barack Obama, who said in a statement via Twitter, "Long before being nerdy was cool, there was Leonard Nimoy."

Even in death, Nimoy continued to inspire. While in the hospital, the actor tweeted, "A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP." As Star Trek fans know, LLAP stand for "Live Long And Prosper," and is the signature phrase from Nimoy's Star Trek character.

The U.S. Army Reserve also gave tribute to the actor by tweeting a photo of him during his time at the Army, captioned, "He lived long and prospered RIP #LeonardNimoy. A great actor and Veteran."
