Sweetlife Festival is happening in Washington DC on May 30, and the event, which is thrown by the food and lifestyle brand Sweetgreen, brings together music and contemporary food culture. According to Radio.com, the lineup has already been announced and the headliners are Kendrick Lamar and Calvin Harris.
All in all, the Washington Post reported a total of 25 performers to play during the two-day festival, and the tickets will start to go on sale on Friday. The rest of the performers are The Weeknd, Pixies, Charli XCX, Billy Idol, Phantogram, Marina & The Diamonds, Bleachers, Tove Lo, Vance Joy, Lucius, Vic Mensa, Allen Stone, Raury, MisterWives, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Sinkane, San Fermin, Life of Dillon, Wet, GoldLink, Sun Club, Holychild, Walking Sticks.
The bad news, however, is that the tickets are sold for two-day packages so those interested to watch are going to have to shell out $175 to $350.
As for the food options, there is no list of specific vendors from the food scene, however, last year's eats included Red Apron Butchery, Astro Doughnuts, and Jose Andres's Pepe Food Truck, among others.
With a festival headline to get to, what does this mean for Kendrick Lamar? Will the rapper be dropping his album before then?
It seems unlikely, as there still doesn't seem to be any update on the album besides dropping the single, "The Blacker the Berry." News Everyday noted that there has been no big update -the album cover, heck, even the album title, has not been revealed yet.
However, if the rest of Lamar's album will be as good as his latest single, sales would not be a problem despite its astronomical difference from "I" which earned him a Grammy. "The Blacker the Berry already had good reviews, with The Oswegonian writing, "The lyrical aspect of this song stands out the most because it's been a long time since a rapper has decided to tackle the topic of racial injustice and stereotypes in their music. 'The Blacker the Berry' is a representation of why the genre of hip hop was started in the first place, as it demands listeners to pay attention to its meaning so they too can be aware of the issues."
Lamar is also busy with a bunch of music festivals that he's lined up to attend. Lamar will also be in the 2015 Sasquatch! Festival on Memorial Day Weekend at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington; the 2015 Essence Festival at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in Louisiana; and will headline the UK Wireless Festival in London on July 4 with Avicii.
