A new site dedicated to the Apple watch has been launched by AppAdvice, reported MacRumors, and it just introduced us to new features that showcases the Apple Watch apps in a more interesting and interactive way, called WatchAware.
The site, which offers a selection of apps displayed on an Apple Watch interface is set with different views for "Apps," "Glances," and "Notifications." Shown during the Apple Watch announcement, WatchAware allows its users to see the app itself as well as how it will look like with a notification. However, even though it was showcased with the interface design at the time, there may be some changes over-all.
To see how the Apple Watch will look like with the apps, Tech Crunch has noted that WatchAware has provided interactive previews, although Apple Inc's (NASDAQ:AAPL) first wearable may already come with its own third-party applications.
There are 27 previews so far, including Run 5k, Todoist, Deliveries, and Infinitweet, all of which have already worked with Watch Aware, Apple Inc, and partner apps including Facebook, Twitter, Maps, Pinterest, etc.
The previews are also noted to offer only limited interactivity, showcasing some aspects of the App functionality in a brief video demo, and each is embedded in an Apple Watch hardware mockup so that you can see what it would look like when the actual model comes to the stores.
AppAdvice founder Mahmoud Hafez explained the app and the team's decision to build a site specifically for the Apple Watch from scratch. He said, "It was hard to start a new site from scratch since we have a strong user base at AppAdvice. When the iPad launched we never considered making an iPad specific site, because the apps were so similar - we saw it as more of a convenience form factor. With Apple Watch we see a true paradigm shift. We're going to have radically different experiences and apps than we have on the phone. We've spent a lot of time thinking about if this device deserves to exist and how it will change computing."
At this point, it is still difficult to imagine how mobile apps can work on the simple screen of the Apple Watch, however, AppAdvice's idea in showing how the software works even before the actual gadget arrives is a useful service, especially for those who are decided on getting the Apple Watch, or any other radical technology in the years to come.
The Apple Watch is expected to be launched at Apple Inc's Spring Forward event on March 9.
