News came to light last year that singer Hilary Duff has filed for divorce from her husband, former NFL player Mike Comrie. However, despite the end of their marriage, the former couple seemed to have split amicably - they were seen spending time with their son Luca, together, and there doesn't seem to be much drama involved.

Hilary never so much as spoke about her divorce in detail, but in her April cover of Cosmopolitan magazine, the young mom finally opened up about her failed marriage... and Aaron Carter.

As noted by People Magazine, Hilary married Mike at the age of 22, and she opened up that she may be too young to have made such a big decision. She told Cosmopolitan, "Mike and I were very in love when we met. We both really wanted to get married. I'd been working since the age of 11 or 12, so making that choice at a young age seemed right for me. Maybe it wasn't, but we spent the majority of our time together really happy."

However, even though they were unable to make the relationship work, Hilary claimed that there's no bitterness or ugly underbelly to their story whatsoever. She said, "It wasn't working well enough to stay together, but there was still a lot of love involved. It was just a slow set-in of us not being the match that we used to be. I'm lucky for the person he is and I am and how we decided to handle this."

She also told the magazine, "I don't want to sound bitter because I'm definitely not, but I don't know if people are meant to be together forever. Things happen over a long relationship that you can't always fight. A marriage of 20 years, the accomplishment of that must feel really great, but there are also huge sacrifices. I just always want to fight for happiness."

Speaking of someone fighting for happiness, Hilary's ex celebrity boyfriend, Aaron Carter have also been fighting for his own happiness. In March last year, Us Magazine noted that he practically declared promises of love to Hilary via Twitter, when he said, "Don't be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me..."

He also posted a follow-up tweet saying, "I'll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don't care what ANY of you think."

However, Hilary didn't seem to think much about Aaron calling her the love of his life. On the matter, she said, "Him reaching out through social media? It's ridiculous! But then people do it all the time, like Chris Brown and Karrueche? Come on, guys. Keep it between text messages."

Now that Hilary is single once again and Aaron appears to still be in love with his ex, is a reconciliation between these old sweethearts in the cards?
