"Mortal Kombat X" is only a month away from its official release date, but as it is with iconic games, the excitement cannot be squandered. According to Game Rant, not much has changed since the game was released in 1992, except that more blood and guts come out every new installment, and the gorier the fatalities become, the better.
A new gameplay video has been released, however, an even more exciting piece of news just came in: as the roster of fighters is the main selling point of "Mortal Kombat," new information has been released, mostly, that there are three more confirmed characters to the game.
A recent teaser release showed three descendants of the Mortal Kombat characters, like Jacqueline Briggs, daughter of Jackson "Jax" Briggs, Takashi Takeda, son of Kenshi, and Kung Jin, who happens to be Kung Lao's descendant. Jin's appearance is, as noted by Cinema Blend, interesting, considering that Kung Lao is still present in the game. However, if that logic is to be followed this could renew hope that Kenshi would still make an appearance in MKX.
Interestingly, Game Ranx noted that despite the possibility of the old roster showing up in the game, the parents of the sure-fire characters have not been confirmed yet, including Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Jax, Liu Kang, and Kenshi (though many are hoping that they will play a part). Baraka, Erron Black, Mileena, Shinnok, Sindel, and Rain are also on the list of characters that could probably be in the game.
Ed Boon has also hinted on the possibility of bringing Spawn, Alien, and Predator, however these plans are yet to be finalized, although Ed is definitely not very subtle about his interest in acquiring the necessary licenses to bring them to the game.
As shown by the trailer, the story for MKX focuses on a group of fighters who are trying to thwart Mileena and her mercenaries from the Outworld from taking over the earth.
NetherRealm Studios has been reportedly improving on the writing and story development since the "Mortal Kombat" franchise was rebooted for consoles and PC in 2009. The reboot, which, according to Cinema Blend focused on the first three games from the 1990s, serves as the recap of the events that lead up to MKV.
The confirmed characters, as noted by Game Spot are Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Ermac, Ferra and Torr, Goro (who will be available if you pre-order), Jacqueline Briggs, Kano, Kitana, Kotal Kahn, Kung Jin, Kuna Leo, Quan Chi, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Takashi Takeda.
Who among the Mortal Kombat characters do you want to see in MKX?
