Nick Young is on the offensive for his girl after an ESPN anchor fired shots on air.

In the "What Did We Learn?" segment of "SportsCenter," anchor Robert Flores threw a one-two punch at Young and Iggy Azalea, who are obviously very much in love.

The rapper and the Los Angeles Lakers guard, aka "Swaggy P," have been dating for more than a year now, noted the New York Post.

Flores said: "According to the Lakers' Nick Young, a dolphin recently tried to kill him. So, Nick, while dolphins are trying to kill you, your girlfriend's trying to kill hip hop," per Fox Sports. The Washington Post added to the script: "Let's call it even, okay?"

(Video available below.)

The first half - about the dolphin -- had truth to it, with an ESPN report quoting Young as detailing the incident in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

"He was playing with everybody else, doing what dolphins do -- the 'ack ack' and all that... It was my time to ride the dolphin," Young told ESPN. "For some reason, he took me all the way to the bottom. He was trying to drown me."

He added: "But I saw it happening, so I jumped out of the water and took off the little life vest and threw off my little water shoes and stayed outside."

"I think he was trying to get on Iggy. He was a little friendly, kissing her and stuff. He was trying to take my woman."

That should have alerted Flores about Young's position on Azalea, but it just didn't. Also failing to remind him is Young's history of defending his girl on social media, even against Snoop Dogg, as reported by TMZ Sports.

Young just took the second half of the joke seriously, launching a barrage of not-so-friendly tweets Monday afternoon, the report said.

Some of the tweets cannot be located anymore, but the Lakers star tagged Flores (@RoFloESPN) in all of them.

Some said: "I'm pretty sure we [are] going to run into each other soon;" "...[Y]ou[r] job is to talk about sports not what me and my chick got going on;" and "...[S]o off the fact you that was cool to say, don't sit right with me so we got a problem."

A March 3 tweet said: "Its cool to talk about me all day any day I find with that, I can take a joke .. That what I do joke, but I didn't see the point of that."

For The Win's Nate Scott also expressed his opinion on the issue: "Flores said that Azalea was 'trying to kill hip hop' on 'SportsCenter' this morning, which seems unfair to me. I don't think she's trying to kill it. It just might be an unfortunate byproduct."

Flores might not be seeing the gravity of the matter, based on this tweet and this Twitter reply.

But the Washington Post said Flores should avoid Staples Center for a while.
