News of Jamie Dornan quitting the "50 Shades of Grey" franchise has devastated fans, however, as it turned out, those rumors aren't true, and the 32-year-old actor is still committed to doing the next films.
Rumors of the actor quitting came when his wife, Amelia reportedly became unhappy with his part in the films, as it has been taking a toll on their family. However, an insider told Mirror UK that the rumors were merely a ploy to make author EL James loosen her grip - she's been known to take too much control in the making of the first film.
The source also said, "Jamie has made it known that doubts could be in place if Taylor-Johnson exits, but it's just a ploy designed to put pressure on James and push her to loosen her grip. The truth is that Jamie plans to do all three and very much with the backing of his family."
Dornan's rep also told the MailOnline, "Jamie is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film."
Rumors of Dornan's decision about staying with the film has been questioned, however, according to Time Magazine, the studio is yet to greenlight a sequel, considering that director Sam Taylor-Johnson is believed to be signed on for only the first film, and there have been no discussions as to her return.
This may be in part of the ongoing clash that the director kept on having with the author who penned the novels in which "50 Shades" was based.
A report from The Sun also claimed that Taylor-Johnson is keen on leaving the franchise because of their issues, even though she already previously said that she'd be doing the sequel. A source said, "Sam won't be back for the Fifty Shades sequels. She wants out and Universal knows that's the right decision. Her relationship with Erika has become absolutely toxic - they despise each other and blame each other for the problems with the film."
A representative for Dornan also told the Daily Mail, "All press reports are pure conjecture as the studio has not committed to a sequel as yet."
It seems that there are too many things going on about "50 Shades of Grey," and whether or not Jamie Dornan will be back seems to be the last thing fans need to be worried about - with no director to helm the project yet, nor greenlight from the studio, it seems that it will take a while to have this sorted out.
However, do you want Jamie to return for the sequel, or is one movie more than enough?
