There have been rumors going around recently, that Jennifer Lawrence got into a screaming match with the director whom she has to thank for her Oscar win ("Silver Linings Playbook" movie, 2012).
The rumors came when, TMZ reported a "loud argument" between Lawrence and her director on-set in Boston. The report claimed, "The eye witness says David started screaming at her... it was ear-piercing and laced with profanities."
However, it seems that the actress has a perfectly okay relationship with Russell. The 25-year-old actress put the rumors to rest via a rare post on her Facebook page, saying, "Hey guys! It's Jen! I know I don't go on here a lot because I can barely work email but there's been a terrible rumor going around the last 24 hours so I wanted to clear it up. David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I'm having a blast making it!"
The Hollywood Reporter also noted that a Fox 2000 representative also backed Lawrence's claim by saying that the on-set screaming match was method acting, done intentionally to draw more emotion from the actress.
Megan Ellison, a producer for the film, also helped flush the rumors down the drain via Twitter, saying, "The only thing happening on set between David Russell & Jennifer Lawrence is an extraordinary collaboration. One I'm proud to be a part of."
According to Time Magazine, the rumors also went rampant because of Russell's reputation for being an aggressive director to his actors. A video from the 2004 film, "I Hear Huckabees" even showed the director yelling at actress Lily Tomlin on set. His relationship with George Clooney is also less than smooth-sailing: the pair seemed to criticize each other in the press, and they, at one point, were even reported to get into a physical fight.
This isn't the first time that Lawrence and Russell collaborated for a film. Aside from "Silver Linings Playbook, the two also worked on "American Hustle" in 2013 which gave Lawrence her third Oscar nomination.
The one they're currently working on is called "Joy," which is about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano - a struggling single mother who went on to become a successful entrepreneur. The film marks a reunion of sorts for the team's winning combination: acting alongside Lawrence in the film is Robert De Niro, whom they worked with in "Silver Linings Playbook," and Bradley Cooper, whom, along with "Silver Linings," they also worked with in "American Hustle."
Joy will be shown in theaters on December 25, 2015.
