It seems that the time has come for "Game of Thrones" to stray away from the books and own the show as theirs.
HBO has recently released a poster for season five and it shows Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) at the bow of a ship with one of Daenerys Targaryen's (Emila Clarke) dragons approaching him through a heavy fog.
According to io9, the poster proves that the series is going to stray away from the books now, so it will mean that Tyrion is going to find his way to Mereen a lot faster than he did in the books. Tyrion and Daenerys will be meeting sometime in the season as well.
The presence of Drogon also posed a lot of questions, according to iO9. The outlet claimed that the dragon may make an earlier appearance compared to the book.
However, it has not been confirmed just how far the series will stray from George RR Martin's novels, but the fifth season, which will air on April 12, is already generating a lot of buzz.
Variety noted that two short clips for the next season have already been released, the first featuring Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) trying to convince the King Beyond the Wall, Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds) to recognize the rightful ruler of Westeros, Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane).
The second teaser showed Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and her squire, Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) discussing politics. Both clips are part of the viral marketing campaign called "The Sight" which gives fans "visions" of what is to happen to the show in the future.
Speaking of the show's future, Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, revealed that her character will be seeing a familiar face in the fifth season. She told Vanity Fair, "in terms of my character Sansa, let's just say she spots a few familiar faces..."
Many seem to think that Sansa will be crossing paths with Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) who used to be a ward for the Starks. However, Allen told Digital Trends, "I can tell you that there will be characters crossing paths and interacting - especially in my storyline - who have never met, or have had just minute amounts of screentime together. That relationship blossoms, and the running theme of Season 5 is that you get so many different characters who were in different parts of the world crossing paths with each other."
It seems that the series is going to surprise even the book readers this time. "Game of Thrones" Season 5 will air on HBO beginning April 12.
