Android devices may be dominating the Mobile World Congress, but this hasn't stopped the grapevine from hoarding details on Apple releases. In case you haven't heard, the iPad Pro (aka iPad Air Plus) is touted for production in Q1 and launching in Q2, which means prospects could hold the 12-inch tablet the latest in June.
That said, it seems plausible that the Worldwide Developers Conference will showcase what fans had been waiting for. Take this with a pinch of salt though, as the event's schedule remains speculated at this point (June 8 -12).
It's interesting to ponder that the iPad Pro might be the Apple's fastest tablet yet. For one, we've heard that the company plans to double the RAM for its next iPhone (looking at the iPhone 6s), but it's only recently when another "likely" prediction came out.
Current reports have cited the remarks of Summit Research's Srini Sundararajan, who revealed that DRAM is in short supply. This may have prompted the Cupertino giant to draw extra capacity on Samsung.
Barron's took note of Sundararajan's statement, "Apple is trying to book capacity in anticipation of a DRAM shortage in 2H:15... Samsung last year had just enough DRAM chips for itself let alone a dream of supplying to Apple and LG."
With regards to smartphones, Samsung has been noted to win "massive" contracts with Apple and LG, BGR reported.
"Apple in fact for its iPad Pro is likely to use 4GB of DRAM. Apple Watch is going to use 0.5 GB of DRAM. iPhone 6s DRAM capacity remains a subjective speculation," the analyst went on.
For comparison, we know that the recent iPad Air 2 runs with an A8X chipset and triple-core CPU, clocked at 1.5 GHz. This is supported by 2 GB of RAM.
The iPad Mini 3, allegedly leaving the market, runs with an A7 chipset and dual-core Cyclone CPU (ARM v8-based), clocked at 1.3 GHz. This is backed by 1 GB of DDR3 RAM.
This means the iPad Pro could have the highest amount of RAM for any other iPad, and we can most certainly expect more space allotted for running softwares (operating system, programs and files).
Reportedly, the iPad will have either a 12.9- or a 12.2-inch display, Digital Trends wrote. The device is pegged to own a thickness of 7 mm -- 0.9 mm more than the iPad Air 2. Other alleged specs cited by the outlet include 2K resolution, A9 processor and 11,000 mAh battery.
MacRumors noted differently, citing majority of reports which claimed the inclusion of a triple-core A8X processor. Expected features include 802.11ac Wi-Fi, LTE support, motion coprocessor, Touch ID and Apple Pay.
In terms of price, TechRadar predicted that the device will cost "somewhere between" the iPad Air and MacBook Air. To compare existing iPad models, head over here.
