It seems that the plummeting sales for Apple iPads is a good thing for other tech companies rivaling the Cupertino giant, as it has been reported that Samsung is giving the Apple giant a run for its money.
Samsung is currently working on successors for its Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 versions, but the biggest gadget for the company to focus on right now is the Galaxy Tab S2, which, according to the International Business Times, can kill the Apple iPad.
According to the site, the Galaxy Tab S2 is a contender against Apple's product and may actually have the chance to beat its biggest rival, as leaked specs prove that Samsung can best its competition.
As noted by GSM Arena, the S2's 8-inch version measures 198.2 × 134.5 × 5.4 and weighs 260 grams. The 9-inch version measures 237.1 × 168.8 × 5.4 and weighs 407 grams. Both devices will offer 2048 x 1536 px resolution.
Its killer feature, however, is its thinness. At only 5.4 mm thick, it is considerably thinner than the iPad Air's 6.1 mm. it is also expected to run on the new Exynos 5433 system-on-chip or Exynos 7420, which can land some serious punches on Apple's iOS.
Sam Mobile focused in on the specs, saying, "If we compare the Tab S2 8.0 to the iPad mini 3, the former is overall a tad smaller and noticeably thinner with dimensions of 198.2×134.5×5.4 mm (the iPad mini 3 is 200 x 134.7 x 7.5 mm). In case of the Tab S 2 9.7 and the iPad Air 2, the story is similar, with the Tab S 2 having a slightly more compact profile. Samsung's upcoming tablets are considerably lighter as well, though that isn't really surprising considering the overall dimensions."
The camera, however, is a less impressive feature, with only 8MP and no flash on the main camera and 2MP for the front facer which means that it's not the best for photos or selfies. However, its 3GB RAM and 25GB (others say it's 32GB but that is yet to be confirmed) internal memory will make it a good gadget to have, but there is no news yet on whether or not it will have a memory card slot for external storage space, although according to The Fuse Joplin, it will have a card slot that can add up to 128GB of memory.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is expected to be released sometime this year.
Do you think Samsung has what it takes to defeat the Apple iPad?
