HTC Ones may be getting all the current update love, but the Taiwanese handset manufacturer hasn't forgotten about its 1080p-rocking Droid DNA. HTC has confirmed that the Droid DNA should receive Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of Q1 2014.

HTC USA revealed the news on Twitter in response to a query. If all goes according to plan, KitKat will rollout for the Droid DNA by end of March.

HTC has wavered on this date, at one point in the past claiming Android 4.4 might be out for the Droid DNA by January 2014, but the Q1 2014 projection seems more accurate. HTC is currently busy upgrading its One lineup to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and the company has ambitiously promised to have every HTC One in the United States (including carrier-variants!) running Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of January 2014. The HTC One Google Play edition has already received its KitKat upgrade.

Then there's the huge glaring fact that the Droid DNA is a Verizon device. While Big Red might be the nation's largest wireless carrier and one of the most advanced, it's also notoriously slow when it comes to pushing out firmware updates. Verizon often lags behind other major networks, but recent Moto X and Samsung Galaxy S3 update releases show the company may be trying to change.

Bear in mind, however, that Verizon is still the only major carrier to have not released Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for the HTC One due to technical issues. Whether or not these issues will affect the Droid DNA's update cycle remains to be seen.
