Plants vs. Zombies have been one of the more popular franchises on mobile platforms with the release of Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time on Android and iOS platforms. Developer Popcap originally launched the franchise on consoles, and the developer seeks to make a triumphant return to that platform with Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. The game was originally announced as an exclusive on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, but a new leak may show that the game could also come to the PlayStation 4.

According to a Korean Game Rating Board that was reported on by Kotaku, the game was registered by publisher EA has also being on the PlayStation 4. This would be huge news, as Garden Warfare is one of the big exclusives for Microsoft in the spring. EA has yet to comment on this news, so it remains a rumor for now. If the game is brought to the PlayStation 4, it will be interesting to see if it receives a full port of the Xbox One version of the game with the added boss fight and offline co-op or if Popcap and EA create a new full version of the game with possible exclusive extras.

Popcap has had a history of both bringing their games to many different platforms and keeping games exclusive. The original Plants vs. Zombies appeared on many different consoles as well as mobile platforms. However, Plants vs. Zombies 2 was originally exclusive to iOS devices for several months before finally coming to Android as well. It would not surprising to hear that Garden Warfare has a similar timed exclusive deal with Microsoft before that game too comes to different platforms.

In any case, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is set to arrive on the announced console on Feb. 18. The game will be entirely multiplayer, and it will allow users to play as the zombies for the first time. Players can partake in epic deathmatches between factions between plants and zombies, and users will be able to both dress up their characters as well as modify their chosen character classes in a variety of ways. The Xbox One version of the game will be available for $40, and the Xbox 360 and PC version of the game will retail for $30.

Look out for more news about Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare as Popcap and EA prepare the game for launch and maybe port the game to the PlayStation 4.
