Windows 10, which is made to be a desktop OS, is also reported to run on other gadgets, and it seems that the Lumia 940 will be the first of the Windows Phones to run on Windows 10.
According to PC Advisor, the Lumia 940 will be coming out soon, most likely at the end of summer.
Here is what we know about the Microsoft Lumia 940 so far:
According to Phone Arena, it will have a 5-inch 1080p display with Gorilla Glass 4 protective screen sheet. On the other hand, reports from Tech Radar state that the Gorilla Glass does not actually exist yet, however, it is expected to be an even better version of the specialized toughened glass from manufacturing company, Corning. It's fourth generation is expected to be thin, light, and damage resistant.
The Microsoft Lumia 940 is also reportedly equipped with a 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdraggon 805 processor, with a 3GB RAM.
As for the camera, it is expected to be better than ever: the Lumia 940 may also sport the new PureView camera generation: 24MP resolution, a 60fps 4K video recording with 60fps. It will also have a 5MP front camera with 1080p capabilities, making it a whole lot better than from other phones (not to mention it's bound to bebetter for selfies and video calls), Phone Arena added.
It is also expected that the Lumia 940 is compact at 137 x 71 x 8.9 mm, and weighing a measly 149 grams. The Lumia 940 is only a millimeter thinner than the Lumia 930, however it is in the same width and height, so the 930 and 940 models will probably have a similar framework.
As summarized by PC Advisor, the Microsoft Lumia 940 specifications are as follows:
- Windows Phone 10
- 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor
- Adreno 420 graphics
- 3GB RAM
- 32-, 64- or 128GB storage
- 5in full-HD (1920x1080) screen with Gorilla Glass 4
- WLAN, NFC, USB 3.0
- 24Mp PureView camera with LED flash, 4K video recording at 60fps
- 5Mp front camera, 1080p video
- 137x71x8.9mm
- 149g
Besides the Lumia 940, Techno Buffalo notes that Microsoft is also working on a new Windows Phablet, probably the Lumia 1330 and could be an upgraded version of the Lumia 1320. The website alsoi noted that Microsoft may have several phones in development, but it may be awhile before Windows 10 devices could be launched, save for the Lumia 940.
With Windows Phone 10 OS still unreleased and Gorilla Glass 4 still nonexistent, it is safe to say that the Lumia 940 will not be out in a while. What other features do you think Microsoft should have for the smart phone?
