Disney has finally started filming the fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, and with the filming, an official synopsis has also been released.

Printed on the Business Insider, it read: "Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar, escape from the Devil's Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea...including him. Captain Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas."

The synopsis, according to Review Journal, suggests that the story will be departing from its original cannon, which is good, considering that the last film was not much of a success. It also did not confirm Orlando Bloom's rumored return to the series, however, there is hope that Will Turner will make an appearance somehow.

In fact, some magazines have already reported that Bloom will be returning to reprise his role, a relationship with his son, which will be played by Brenton Thwaites, rumored to be a major plot point in the film, as noted by Variety.

While waiting for official news of Bloom's return, aside from Johnny Depp reprising his role as the rum-loving Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush will also be returning as Captain Barbosa, and Kevin R McNally as Joshamee Gibbs. Javier Bardem will be playing the role of the main antagonist, Captain Salazar. Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, and Golshifteh Farahani will also be joining the ensemble cast.

Shooting for the movie is taking place in Australia, particularly in Queensland and in the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast. In fact, the producers of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" have already shared their first ever behind-the-scene photo of Captain Jack Sparrow on the screen as filming was ongoing.

The photo, which was shared on Jerry Bruckheimer's official Twitter account, showed Depp in full costume in the production set. This ignited a happy response from fans, who have been waiting awhile to see the captain and his rum-guzzling crazy antics on screen.

The film will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, with Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning at the helm and Jeff Nathanson penning the script.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is slated to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
