Jennifer Lopez has professed her admiration for 15-year-old "American Idol" Top 24 finalist Daniel Seavey.
During Wednesday night's airing of the popular talent show held at Los Angeles' House of Blues, J. Lo couldn't help but gush over the performance of Portland based Seavey. According to Daily Mail, the young contestant's rendition of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" impressed both the audience and the judges, which earned Seavey a spot in the Top 24 list.
Seavey didn't appear flushed upon hearing the "On the Floor" singer's compliment, Daily Mail noted. When Lopez said that Seavey is "so frickin' cute," the schoolboy responded with a confident, "Right back at you."
"We've been impressed with you from the beginning, you are so young...you're a great singer," Lopez told self-confessed "ladies man" Seavey, who admitted that he is "always been in love with J.Lo," the news outlet added.
Aside from Seavey, 17-year-old Lovey James from Hillsboro also secured a spot in the Top 24 with her rendition of "Wings" by Little Mix. Both of them earned approvals from judges Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr., and Lopez, Oregon Live reported.
Michael Simeon is also in for his performance of MKTO's rap song "Classic," Daily Mail noted. Loren Lott was almost eliminated due to judge Connick's not quite positive reception of her rendition of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," but the young singer still managed to push through. Adam Ezegelian also got in after performing Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again," and Clark Beckham for his soulful performance of "Georgia on My Mind."
Other hopefuls who made the cut are Adanna Duru for her "This Is a Man's World" number, Maddie Walker after a rendition of Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry," Florida native and former homeless Tyanna Jones, "Piece of My Heart" belter Shannon Berthiaume, Rayvon Owen, and New Jersey based Jax, who sang Lady GaGa's "You and I," the news outlet reported.
Journey ends for some 'Idol' hopefuls
New Yorker Hollywood Anderson was an early favorite in the competition, but lost out in the group performance. Rachel Hallack was also sent home after going head to head in an a capella country number with Walker. Hallack didn't take it quite well, saying, "I guess I'll go home and carry on playing in f*cking bars," Daily Mail reported.
Reno Anoa'I, Zack Kaltenbach, Hannah Mrozak, Hector Montenegro, J. None, and Cody Fry didn't make it as well, Yahoo! Music noted.
Top 24 now complete
The remaining 12 contestants in the Top 24 were announced Thursday night on Fox. They are: Joey Cook, Katherine Winston, Quentin Alexander, Alexis Gomez, Savion Wright, Mark Andrew, Trevor Douglas, Nick Fradiani, Sarina-Joi Crowe, Qassim Middleton, Riley Bria and Shi Scott.
