Gina Carano has been cast to co-star with A-list celebrity Ryan Reynolds for the big-screen adaptation of "Deadpool," according to Hypable.
Carano will play Angel Dust, a mutant refugee, in Marvel's much-anticipated release, noted the International Business Times. The character is from the outsiders group Morlocks although it is still unknown how her treatment in the film would be, it added.
Star Dust has the power to raise her adrenaline levels to adjust her strength, said Digital Trends.
According to the report, the Hollywood Reporter first broke the news on the actress, whose film portfolio includes "In the Blood" and "Fast & Furious 6." She was critically acclaimed in Steven Soderbergh's "Haywire," Hypable noted.
Before the X-Men taping, she will also be with Bruce Willis in the action movie "Extraction," it added. She recently wrapped up heist thriller "Bus 657" with Robert DeNiro and "Kickboxer" with Dave Batista.
'Deadpool' movie in the works
The Hollywood Reporter said in a Feb. 13 piece that Carano has already closed the deal for the Fox movie, which will be directed by Tim Miller and produced by Lauren Shuler Donner. The camera will begin to roll in March in Vancouver, it said.
The revelation comes just after Reynolds revealed his mask in the movie, Digital Trends noted.
The movie will supposedly focus on the origins of Deadpool, one of the biggest challenges to Wolverine in his own "X-Men Origins" film, said Screen Rant.
He was given a combo of mutant abilities in that film, but the set of abilities this time around is still unknown, noted Hypable.
Deadpool, created by Rob Liefeld, is a mercenary with a talkative persona in the Marvel comics, described the International Business Times.
'Deadpool' plot info
Some details of the plot have been revealed by Hollywood Reporter.
Reynolds will play assassin Wade Winston Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, who undergoes treatment supposedly to save himself from cancer. However, he ends up endowed with superpowers.
The International Business Times added that the powers had to be infused to him because of some troubles in the treatment.
So essentially, noted Hypable, the film "will focus on the character's origins".
Also in the cast is comedian TJ Miller, although his role is not yet disclosed, said the Hollywood Reporter. Colossus, or Piotr Rasputin, will also be included in the storyline, but played not by Daniel Cudmore.
Digital Trends added Ed Skrein to the list of starrers.
In another Hypable report, it was noted that the movie is set to hit cinemas Feb. 16, 2016. The leaked footage (which can be viewed below), has helped the movie on the publicity side.
"And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way," Reynolds told the Niagara Falls Review.
