Los Tigres del Norte song "América" is featured in the opening credits of Disney's upcoming film "McFarland, USA."

The sports drama flick stars Kevin Costner as "the coach of a scrappy high school team of cross-country runners in a California farm workers town," Billboard reported. The film is set for a theatrical release on February 20.

The movie also stars Maria Bello, Ramiro Rodriguez, Carlos Pratts, and Johnny Ortiz, with Niki Caro in the director's chair, Deadline noted.

The "McFarland, USA" album was released on Tuesday, February 17, days ahead of the movie's debut in theaters, Billboard noted. Aside from Los Tigres del Norte's track, music from the album includes Juanes' "Juntos," which Billboard described as "an upbeat message vehicle with the Colombian star's familiar rhythmic hook." Also featured in the album are War's "Me and Baby Brother" and Mongo Santamaria's "Watermelon Man."

According to Billboard, "América" was "the opening track on Los Tigres' 1986 Gracias!...América...Sin Fronteras, an album that went to No. 1 on Billboard's Regional Mexican chart and won a Grammy for Best Mexican-American performance." The group performed the track in 2013 with Calle 13 in their "MTV Unplugged" album.

Los Tigres del Norte's Valentine's Day Show

Los Tigres del Norte recently had a Valentine show at the Brooklyn's Bedford Armory. The concert featured the band's songs from their "Realidades" album, which contains singles that focus on social issues, NY Daily News reported. One of their tracks, "Era Diferente," won an award from LGBT media advocacy organization GLAAD for highlighting lesbian love. "El Gallo del Mojado" talks about the "chances of the U.S. electing a President with Mexican blood," while "La Jefa del Jefe" praises strong women at home and in the business and politics industry.

"The man needs a partner to be more brave," leader Jorge Hernandez explained, referring to "La Jefe del Jefe." "The saying goes that behind a great man, there's a great woman, but the song changes that. It says the woman needs to be side-by-side if the man wants to grow," he added, as quoted by NY Daily News.

The musician also said that their songs talk about "real things," which was carefully chosen through a lengthy process, NY Daily News noted. He also mentioned that the songs in their album were influenced by the composers they work with, such as Manuel Eduardo Toscano, Teodoro Bello, and Pablo Castro.
