"GTA 6" could surprise many of its fans as it is rumored that the version will have a female lead, according to Christian Post.

The game has been running with a male lead character since 1997, making the effect of such change at this time, relatively unknown, noted Master Herald.

According to Trusted Reviews, fans are delighted to see a female lead. The site added that this will be a good move for the company since they have long been criticized for being "sexist," especially with the title's "penchant for prostitutes and strip clubs."

This would not be the first time Rockstar will feature a female lead. In "GTA 3," they introduced a character named Catalina.

Rockstar Games Co-founder Dan Houser confirmed that this is a consideration for the development team.

"In the future, could we do a game with a female lead character? Of course. We just haven't figured the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things we always talk about," he said.

Reports suggest that the sixth installation of the game will be released in two years. Leslie Benzies, Rockstar Games president, shared that they are taking a long time to recreate the game since there are so many ideas on how to improve upon it.

"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what GTA 6 will be, but we've got some ideas," said Benzies.

According to Inquisitr, "GTA 6" could be set in 2015 featuring either Houston Texas or Portland Oregon as the main city.

Benzies also said in a statement that the location would be an essential part of the game.

"Where it is going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in L.A. than in New York or Miami. Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas," said the president.

Other reports add that it is time for "GTA" to have "a story set across multiple cities," according to Trusted Reviews. With the help of the flexibility of PS4 and Xbox One, this option could now be integrated in the game.

However, Rockstar Games has not released any official statements yet on where the location of the game will be.
