A remake has been made for "La Usurpadora" or "The Usurper" in 2012, but there are already rumors going around, saying that a new version is currently in the making. Naturally, there are also talks about who might portray the twins Paola and Paulina, who was played by singer-actress Gabriela Spanic in the original 1998 version of the telenovela.
"Suelta La Sopa" recently asked Spanic about what she thought of the possible second remake. The actress, however, wasn't aware of the rumors. Reporter Luis Magaña explained that the new version of the show could star Eiza Gonzalez, Anahi, Dulce Maria, or Ludwika Paleta, Latin Post reports.
Spanic then complimented the abovementioned actresses and said that they were all "pretty and professional" and that she hopes the best one would win the role, according to Latin Post.
To those unacquainted with the storyline of "La Usurpadora," Paola and Paulina are twins separated at birth. Though sharing the same beautiful face, their personalities are miles apart from each other's. Paulina, the pleasant twin, grew up poor and was in a relationship with a man who cheated on her. The evil twin, Paola, had a rich upbringing and cheated on her husband.
In order to embark on a year-long vacation with her lover, Paola convinces Paulina to switch places with her. Things started to get more complicated when Paulina falls in love with her twin's husband, the news outlet notes.
Mexican actress Angelique Boyer addressed rumors tying her to the remake. According to the TV star, she has no plans to accept the roles despite having experience playing both heroine and villain characters.
"I saw it, and I loved it," she said, according to Rotativo and translated by Latin Post. "It really was a great melodrama. I remember it perfectly, but it was just repeated. I think that there needs to be time between stories before you come back to them again and well, for an actress, I think it's a dream to do a character like that."
The 28-year-old actress added that she was 8 years old when the original version of "La Usurpadora" aired, which she was a huge fan of, Air Herald reports. However, the first remake aired only two years ago and another version of the show could be too soon. Boyer said that portraying Paola and Paulina roles would be a great honor, but it's not right for her at the moment.
Boyer is currently planning her wedding to Sebastian Rulli, the news outlet notes. The couple starred in "Lo Que La Vida Me Robó" and in various plays together.
