The deal between Sony and Marvel that included Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is for the most part, good news. However, it also meant that Andrew Garfield just got fired from his role as the web-slinging superhero, and the role is up for grabs yet again.
Of course, since there has been two Spider-Men in ten years, people are now very familiar about Peter Parker's life story so even though it is likely that Marvel and Sony will still want to put him behind the Spidey mask, there are other options as well. Peter Parker wasn't the only one who donned the costume, anyway.
As Slash Film noted, the companies were unclear which character they're going to go for, but if not Peter, there's still Miles Morales, who took over being the superhero when Peter died in the comic books.
Whichever web-slinger they plan to go with, Marvel and Sony will have to decide soon, considering that Spider-Man will be making an appearance in next year's "Captain America: Civil Wars."
Fans already have a bunch of actors they want to turn into the next Spider-Man, and here are the top choices:
Logan Lerman - The "Fury" actor can definitely hold his own as a superhero. He also starred in the "Percy Jackson" franchise, after all. If he can be a demigod, he can definitely be a webslinger, and according to the International Business Times, he is a frontrunner for the role.
Dylan O'Brien - "The Maze Runner" actor certainly got the chops to be a superhero, pair that with his mischievous roots from "Teen Wolf," and you know you got a perfect Peter Parker.
Thomas Brodie Sangster - The 24-year-old actor, who played Newt in "The Maze Runner" and Reed in "Game of Thrones" may be in his 20s, but he can pass off as someone younger if Marvel and Sony decide to go for a younger, high-school-aged Spiderman. Although he does not look like he's made to be a superhero, but Peter Parker is also brains more than brawn, Sangster really seems like he could be an intellectual, can't he?
Stephan James - this relative newbie in the Hollywood acting scene stole nearly every scene showed up in "Selma" and he is quietly great in his part. With the kind of presence that he has on-screen, it's easy to see him as the next Spidey.
Donald Glover - He and his fans wanted to get the role of Spider-Man since "The Amazing Spider-Man" was announced, but sadly, he didn't get the part. However, according to Hollywood Take, he voiced Miles Morales in "Ultimate" Spider-Man last year, so he has the experience, and maybe Sony and Marvel will consider him this time.
Check out Clevver News' take on who they want to be the new Spider-Man, but who would you vote as the next nerdy web-slinging superhero?
