Hold your horses, the sixth generation iPod Touch is still coming, but it's not top priority for Apple right now, because there's the Apple Watch to look forward to.
According to Tech Times, CEO Tim Cook compared the Watch to the iPod, as it has the same ingredient that made the iPod a game changer in the music world - and that is great user experience. As Apple is gearing up for its release, Cook explained how it has taken a page out of the iPod media player which the company introduced in 2001.
Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference, Cook said, "If you think about the MP3 industry, we weren't the first company to make an MP3 player, there were lots of companies in this. They weren't used very much. They were fundamentally hard to use -- the user interface was bad and you almost needed a Ph.D. to use them. They're not memorable. I see the smart watch category very much like that. There are several things that are called smart watches, but I'm not sure you could name any. There hasn't been one that changed the way people live their lives. At Apple, that's our objective. We want to change the way you live your life."
But for those with less interest in the Apple Watch and more for the iPod Touch, Master Herald noted that there are different theories about when the device will be released, but some have claimed that it will be released by September this year, a full year later than originally planned, as there was a very high demand for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that the company did not foresee.
However, despite the delay, the company is not worried that the appeal will wear off and are well aware that the market is still alive as long as music is a thing. Even though sales for digital music players have decreased the past few years, Apple managed to revolutionize the music player scene all those years ago, and they are confident that if there's anyone who could revive the trend, it will be them.
What can consumers expect from the new iPod generation, though? JobsNHire noted that it will come in two models, a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch, and will come in a myriad of colors such as their usual pink, yellow, red, silver, blue, and space grey. It will also come with an A8 processor with other features fashioned from the iPhone, but the best of them all is the possibility of the 4-inch Retina Display that could be seen for the very first time in the iPod line.
None of these are sure-fire updates though, and should be taken with a grain of salt, however, one thing is for sure: the iPod 6G is still coming, we just have to wait.
