On Apr. 14, "Mortal Kombat X" is set to arrive for the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. While we're still two months away, the title continues to build hype as interesting news from its developers hit the web.
For one, NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that the game's female characters are bound to be more realistically-proportioned. According to GameSpot, production manager Spiro Anagnostakos expressed, "The mantra for this game has always been realism; heading towards a more realistic look."
As with any game, exaggerated features make the characters unreal, specially when we're looking at humans. "So the same thing applies to the proportions where we try to bring things back in per se to where they should be," he added.
As stated in the report, the manager has revealed a new model for the character Kitana, sporting a more natural physique. In addition, it has been announced that Jade, another character, is out from "MKX."
Classic characters are touted to make their own comebacks. The Tech Times felt that Portuguese voice actress Pitty's recent video has revealed a new piece of evidence, suggesting the return of two familiar faces.
Pitty lends her voice to the character Cassie Cage, daughter of Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage. Upon translation of some parts in the clip, the outlet is convinced that Sonya and Jax Briggs could be up to return in "MKX."
IGN took note of Pitty's translated lines, which include "Stay away from my mother (in reference to Sonya)" and "Are you ok, Uncle Jax? Your joints are cracking (in reference to Jax)." But of course, this may not be confirmed as neither of the two appeared in the video.
The Tech Times also cited a footage from the "MKX" trailer "Faction War," which appeared to suggest that Sonya will be a playable character. Clues about Jax's role are scarce at this point.
Reports about the title's DLC plans have also surfaced. As told by Cinema Blend, executive director Shaun Himmerick has informed that the "Kombat Pack" will include fighters and costumes, but not "crazy" new modes and arenas.
Himmerick said in a tweet, "The Kombat pack is 4 full characters and 5 skin packs (15 skins) which includes some of my most favorite skins in the game."
For those who may not know, the "Kombat Pack" is the game's equivalent of a Season Pass, ENTweak noted. At present, the DLC's price may only be speculated, so we'll be on the lookout for word.
In the meantime, see the title's announce and gameplay trailers below.
