Reports of Sony making a deal with Marvel about a certain web-slinging superhero have been the talk of the town, and it seems that there will be more spinoffs to look forward to... or not

According to the Variety, despite the deal, Sony will still be launching the Spider-Man spinoffs, specifically "The Sinister Six" and "Venom." Both projects were thought to be sent to the back burner when last year's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" became a disappointment for fans as well as the studio.

However, with the news of Spider-Man being rebooted and appearing in "Captain America: Civil War" next year, the excitement for Marvel films came alive once again. Fans certainly were excited at the thought of Spider-Man appearing in the same cinematic universe as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the rest of the Avengers, as he should, if we are to base everything on the comic books.

But because of the changes of the lineup in Marvel films, "The Sinister Six," which centers on Spidey's mightiest foes, will be delayed from its original November 2016 release. Cinema Blend noted that Marvel has been very meticulous about building their cinematic universe, so it will take a while before spinoffs and villain team-ups could take center stage.

The Wall Street Journal noted Sony's statement, which read, "Sony will no longer release its Spider-Man villain movie 'The Sinister Six' in November of 2016 as previously planned, said a person involved in its production. The studio will rethink its approach to the film, which remains in development, in light of the new agreement with Marvel."

In an open letter for Sony, The Verge outlined how it would be a good deal to make "The Sinister Six" film before Spidey debuts as part of MCU, and the superhero could go out with a bang by getting killed off. That way, fans can get proper closure for Andrew Garfield's end as the web-slinging superhero, and inevitably, Marvel will have to recast, and there will be no sequel to worry about because Marvel will be doing the reboot. Quite a good suggestion, but it seems too far-off for Sony to do.

As Screen Crush noted, there is no way that the "Sinister Six" could debut before the Spider-Man reboot, which will ruin the film continuity, so it seems that there is no way that the villains' film could come anytime soon, no matter how many fans clamor for it.

Are you bummed about "Sinister Six" and "Venom" being placed in the back burner, especially with this fan-made trailer getting us all pumped up?
