The highly anticipated film "Fifty Shades of Grey" will premiere in theaters on Valentine's Day weekend. As expected, fans of the novels by E.L. James, which the movie is based on, are excited for the big screen adaptation of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele's steamy affection towards each other. Victor Rasuk, who portrays aspiring photographer Jose Rodriguez, is also thrilled for the film's opening.
The Dominican-American actor admitted to Fox News Latino that he had never read the series of novels written by James when he was offered the part. So at first, he didn't know if he's going to have nude scenes.
"After the excitement I had to ask, 'Am I going to get naked?" Rasuk told the news outlet. "I called people in my family who had read the book and told them about the part."
The 31-year-old actor also revealed that he wasn't particularly keen on letting his family see him naked, but he has changed his mind since. He praises the crew for following the events in the novel, particularly director Sam Taylor-Johnson and co-stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, who portray Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, respectively.
"What they did with the film - everyone went in there and we were gung-ho about sticking to the book," Rasuk said, as quoted by Fox News Latino. "It keeps to the story and the sex, which is there, is tasteful. It isn't not too much in your face."
According to NBC News, Rasuk was discovered at the Lower East Side neighborhood in New York City while still a teenager. He since appeared in films "Five Feet High and Rising," "Raising Victor Vargas," "Che," and "Lords of Dogtown." He's also currently starring in the CBS drama "Stalker." In "Fifty Shades of Grey," he plays the romantic rival of Grey for Steele's affection.
Rasuk also commends his upcoming film for showing an "authentic love story" wherein the two primary characters risk everything for love, which he attributes to the director's skill.
"Sam was the best director I've worked with because she was focused on the characters, focused on the journey and didn't make it about the sex. She was the best captain on this film," the Latino actor said, as quoted by the news outlet.
When asked if he would appear in the upcoming sequels, Rasuk confirmed that he will be, given that the main characters will meet at his character's first photography exhibit in the second book, Fox News Latino noted.
