By now you’ve probably seen Kanye West’s “Bound 2” music video. The highly stylized video features West and his girlfriend Kim Kardashian riding a motorcycle across scenic green screen landscapes. It’s romantic. It’s artistic. It’s a piece of Kanye perfection, like everything he touches, according to him. Although the video received mixed reviews -- some people loved it, others hated it, naturally -- it hit a special chord actors Seth Rogen and James Franco.
Rogen and Franco have decided to make their own version of the video, titled “Bound 3,” with Franco starring as Kanye and Rogen as Kardashian. They replicate it shot for shot. Yes, even the kissing.
And Kanye loved it. Kardashian retweeted Rogen’s link to the video and added, “You nailed it!!! Sooo funny!” She later posted, “Kanye says what’s up! He loves u guys! He laughed so hard at this,” to which Rogen responded, “thanks! Some of those positions were really uncomfortable. That s--t is harder than it looks.” Check out the video below.
With Kanye’s track record, Franco and Rogen took a risk. There was no telling how the rapper would have responded. But he love it. They succeeded. They have the seal of approval from Yeezus himself. What more could you ask for?
West chose to premiere the original video on “Ellen,” a rather odd decision. Their ideologies and visions don’t necessarily match up, but nonetheless, the video was received with approval and applause. Perhaps his different, more heartfelt approach struck a chord with the “Ellen” audience.
While the song and video had to be edited in order to air on the program, Kardashian released the unedited version on her YouTube page soon after. You can check out both versions below, one of which includes Ellen’s introduction and reaction.
