Pitbull reportedly filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against eyewear company Oakley.

According to a report from TMZ, the legal action claims that the sunglasses brand used Pitbull's name on a line of shades labeled "Pit Bull" without the musician's approval. The artist is also selling his own line of eyewear, which included his PitBull Dale Sunglasses.

The Style of the Case reported that the case was filed in United States District Court, Southern District of Florida, accusing the company of "a specific intent to deceive and mislead consumers."

"Pitbull says Oakley sponsored one of his tours in 2009, and he wore their sunglasses at the time -- which he says proves the company knows there's good money in targeting his fans," TMZ reported.

The news outlet noted that the rapper wants Oakley to stop making the eyewear, and he also demands the profits made from the PIT BULL™ shades.

'Calibash 2015'

Just recently, Pitbull performed as one of the headlining artists at the Calibash 2015, the leading urban music festival in the world, FDRMX reported. The rapper performed some of his biggest hits including "Timber" and "Time of Our Lives."

The sold-out concert, which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, also featured other musicians such as Carlos Vives, Maluma, Don Omar, Tego Calderon, Wisin, Plan B, Farruko, and J Alvarez, the news outlet added.

Pitbull has released eight studio albums, including his two gold albums "M.I.A.M.I" (2004) and "Planet Pit" (2011). M.I.A.M.I (Money Is A Major Issue) was his first studio album, which featured production from Lil Jon, Jim Jonsin, and the Diaz Brothers, FDRMX reports. Some of the most well-known tracks in the album are "Culo," "That's Nasty," and "Back Up."

"Planet Pit," on the other hand, debuted in Billboard 200 at Number 7 and sold 55,000 copies in its first week in the market, making it the highest grossing album of the rapper. It included collaborations with other artists such as "Give Me Everything" with Ne-Yo, Afrojak, and Nayer, "International Love" featuring Chris Brown, and "Rain Over Me" with Marc Anthony, the news outlet listed.

Pitbull Honored in Florida for Contribution to Arts

In January, Gov. Rick Scott presented Pitbull, a.k.a. Armando Christian Perez, the Florida Ambassador of the Arts Award, which "recognizes those whose contributions to the arts helped enhance the quality of Florida's diverse culture," Poll Star reports. The ceremony was held during the expansion of Pitbull's SLAM! Academy Charter School.
