Jude Law will make an appearance at Bolivia's carnival festival this year.
The British actor will be a special guest star at the festivities in Oruro, Bolivia, which is one of the country's "largest and most visited parades," according to a report from Fox News Latino.
Law was invited by the Bolivian beer company CBN (Cervecería Boliviana Nacional) and the country ministry of culture, Fox News Latino added.
CBN Marketing Manager Christina Montilla said in a statement quoted by Latin Times that it's the first time their company invited "such a big celebrity." Montilla also added that they are hoping that the festival "seduces Mr. Jude Law."
Carnival of Oruro Festivities
"The Carnival of Oruro, located nearly 140 miles south of La Paz, was named one of UNESCO's Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2001 and honors the Virgen of Socavon," Fox News Latino noted.
The celebration is set to extend all over Bolivia from Friday to Tuesday, with the largest event to be held in Oruro this Saturday. According to Latin Times, the primary dance of the festivities is called the Diablada, "in which the dancers personify the eternal struggle between good and evil, and other dances are also filled with religious and ethnic symbolism."
The Carnival takes place every year and lasts for ten days. It also serves as a means to showcase popular arts expressed in masks, textiles, and embroidery. According to UNESCO, the main ceremony of the festival is the procession or entrada, wherein "dancers walk the four kilometres of the processional route and repeat the journey for a full twenty hours without interruption."
More than 28,000 dancers and 10,000 musicians organized in about 50 groups join the procession featuring medieval mystery plays, the website noted.
Jude Law on More Career Opportunities
In the Landmark Sunshine premiere of his most recent film "Black Sea," Law opened up about having more opportunities as an actor now that he's older -- roles that aren't there for older actresses.
"There's an opportunity after a certain age - for actors, unfortunately not for actresses - but certainly for actors to investigate a type of character that you're not necessarily open to when you're in your 20s or 30s," the 42-year-old star told NY Daily News.
Law stars as a "tough-guy seaman" in "Black Sea" who gets involved with "a collection of sketchy characters searching for a sunken treasure ship, NY Daily News detailed. At first, director Kevin MacDonald wasn't convinced that Law could portray the character because of his "debonair romantic roles" in the past, but the filmmaker was pleased when he got the performance he wanted from the actor.
