Rockstar Games president Leslie Benzies has revealed some news that could get "Grand Theft Auto" fans in a frenzy. For instance, despite the fact that the game has been criticized heavily for its violence, "GTA 6" is definitely coming, although they don't have a real grasp on ideas on what it could be about - for now, at least.
Benzies said, as noted by the Christian Times, "We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what GTA VI will be, but we've got some ideas."
Although there is no specific release date yet, it is likely to be released by the fall of 2017 and would probably take place in "Vice City" which has been used before in 2002's "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City." However, other sources think that it will be set in a more realistic city. Youth Health Magazine, for instance, noted that there are theories of the game being set in Portland, Oregon. Others also think that it could be set in Houston, Texas instead.
The setting is central to the story. Benzies explained, "Where it is going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami."
Then, because of the fact that there have been a lot of GTA games and with more to come, Rockstar Games is also tinkering of the idea of having a consolidated map for the franchise. Benzies said, "Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas."
Hey, if "Game of Thrones" can have seven kingdoms, why can't GTA have a map of its own universe, right?
The biggest news, however, is that Rockstar Games is trying to get out of their comfort zone (and maybe misogynistic tendencies) by introducing a female lead character soon. Dan Houser, co-founder of the company said, "In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course. We just haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things we always think about."
It looks like Rockstar is putting a lot of effort to make sure that "GTA 6" will be a success, but for now it's all about the theories. Where do you want it to be set? Should there be an integrated game soon? Could a playable female character really be happening?
What is your "GTA 6" theory?
