Marco Reus Transfer News & Rumors: No Spot in Barcelona?

Barcelona might already be dropped from the transfer list of Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Marco Reus, after he found no spot for himself there.

There are just too many capable men leading the Catalans that it has become unwise to head over to them, he said, per Eco Diario. "And where to play in this club where the front is formed by Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar?"

You can't expect an in-demand player not to be picky with his moves, said Mirror, explaining that although he has reportedly met the Spanish team over a possible transfer, he is not going to make it easy for them.

Reus will be available for £20 million this coming summer, the piece explained, and he is reportedly not likely to extend his stay at the German club.

Except for that first problem, there is one other hump on the road, per Football Espana -- it is legally impossible for Barca to acquire Reus because it is banned until January next year.

It explained that there are three scenarios if Reus ever green-lights the transfer: (1) he postpones his move until the embargo is lifted, (2) he signs for another team in the interim and then heads to Barcelona next year, or (3) he signs with the club and trains with them but plays later.

With that picture, it would be hard to tick off some criteria in his request going into the transfer market, which are "win major titles, hold and make more money," Eco Diario said.

The 25-year-old has also instructed his agent, Volker Struth, to seek teams where he can be a major figure in the lineup, Mirror added.

However, the report noted that Barcelona thinks it has a good chance to take Reus because he is friends with their goalkeeper, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. It also noted that Ter Stegen's agent was Reus' coach at Borussia Moenchengladbach.

In another take on the issue, Express believes Reus, with his question, has shut the door on Nou Camp, shortening the list of popular candidates to Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool of the Premier League and Real Madrid of the La Liga.

Here is the City Sports adds Chelsea to the prospects.

Reus had previously dispelled rumors that he would head over to Bayern Munich, a perennial rival of Dortmund, Express added.

According to Here is the City Sports, Reus' departure can be blamed on his current team's poor performance, as proven by a Wednesday 1-0 loss to Augsburg in a home game.

Dortmund is now among the bottom teams at Bundesliga, failing to recover from a slow start in the campaign after the winter break, it added. They now have one draw and one defeat.

The transfer rumors circulate not only around Reus but also on key players like Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan and Nuri Sahin, the report noted. They reportedly have their sights on the Premier League.

For Reus, the wait could last until April, said Express, basing on reports in Spain.
