Fans of the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" franchise are in for a treat.
America Ferrera, one of the lead stars in the film, recently talked to E! News to confirm that a third installment will certainly happen.
"It's definitely in the works," she told E! News. "We'll see, these things take time. There's movement in the direction of 'Sisterhood 3,'"
Aside from Ferrera, the 2005 and 2008 "Sisterhood" movies also featured Blake Lively, who recently gave birth to a baby girl, Alexis Bledel, and Amber Tamblyn. The franchise is based on Ann Brashares' young adult novels with the same name, which revolves around four friends who discover a magical pair of pants that fits them all no matter how their body shapes and sizes differ from each others'. According to Latina, the four girls make "a pact to stay connected as their lives begin to veer in different directions - and make the decision to circulate the pants amongst each other as they continue to grow."
This was not the first time that Ferrera hinted at an on-screen reunion with her co-stars. During the New York City launch of her husband Ryan Piers Williams' art exhibit last month, the 30-year-old actress told PEOPLE that the third "Sisterhood" movie could focus on the fifth book, titled "Sisterhood Everlasting," of Brashares' series of novels.
"There's a fifth book, and what's wonderful about it is, and the series to begin with, is that it's really raw and honest about friendship and how hard it can be and how it changes as you grow up," the actress said, as quoted by PEOPLE.
She also opened up about her friendship with Lively, Tamblyn, and Bledel.
"We love each other, and we love this series, and we are so proud of the work that we did together that it would be wonderful to come back at do another one," Ferrera added, PEOPLE reports.
She added that they have all been "friends for a decade now" and that all her "Sisterhood" co-stars are "very close" to her, according to E! News' report.
As proof of this wonderful friendship, Tamblyn attended the art exhibit, "Monsters and Landscapes," to support Ferrera and her husband. Like Ferrera, the actress also teased about the third installment of their film, the news outlet noted.
"I think in the spirit of the magical pants that there is something magical brewing," Tamblyn hinted, as quoted by PEOPLE.
