The next of Netflix's Marvel release just dropped its teaser trailer, and "Daredevil" looks much darker, as compared to Ben Affleck's film version from several years back.

The gritty preview began with a Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) in the church confessional, telling the priest, "I've been preoccupied of late, with questions of morality. Of right and wrong, good and evil...I'm not seeking forgiveness for what I've done, father. I'm asking forgiveness for what I'm about to do."

For those unfamiliar with Daredevil's story, CNet recalled that Daredevil centers around the story of Matt Murdock, a New York City lawyer by day, and a crime-fighting vigilante at night. Blinded in a chemical accident as a child, Marvel's Man Without Fear, despite his blindess, Murdock was able to protect his city as his remaining four senses have been supernaturally enhanced to compensate for the loss of his vision.

This enhancement gave him the ability to detect the most minute of changes, including heart rate and temperature, making him more aware of the world around him. Being a hero, he also has the strength, speed, endurance, and acrobatic skills of an athlete, with a mix of martial arts background, including boxing, ninjutsu, judo, and aiki-jujutso.

According to Variety, the hour-long series will debut all of its 13 episodes on April 10 on Netflix at 12:01AM PT, where the streaming service site is available.

The series stars Charlie Cox (of Boardwalk Empire fame) as Matt Murdock, Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page. Other cast members include Vondie Curtis Gall, Scott Glenn, Ayelet Zurer, Bob Gunton, and Toby Leonard Moore.

It is executive produced by Steven S DeKnight and Drew Goddard (whose works include "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer") along with Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television. Variety noted that the first two episodes of "Daredevil" were written by Goddard, and produced by Marvel Television with ABC Studios.

"Daredevil" is the first Netflix Series with Disney and Marvel that has come to fruition, with "AKA Jessica Jones," will be next, which E! News noted will be starring Krysten Ritter, David Tennant, Mike Colter, Carrie Anne Moss, and Rachael Taylor.

"Iron Fist," and "Luke Cage" are also in the works. All three series are said to lead up to Marvel's "The Defenders" franchise.
