With most of the attention focused on shiny new 2013 flagship smartphones, it's easy to forget older trailblazers like the HTC One X. Luckily for HTC One X owners, HTC hasn't quite given up on the handset, and the phone is due for a major update in 2014.
HTC USA confirmed on Twitter that the One X would receive Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.5 in 2014. The U.S. branch of the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer did not reveal a specific date.
@Chris_Zouari Hey Chris, we plan to deliver Android 4.2.2 & Sense 5 to the HTC One X in 2014. Hooray!

The news is sure to be comforting to One X owners, who have not been given a straight answer on what updates to expect.
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean isn't the latest version of Android (that's Android 4.4 KitKat) but it will bring the usual security and performance enhancements. Other than that, sadly, there won't be much a change in the Jelly Bean interface other than more customizable options.
Sense 5.5 is where One X owners will really see a change. Sense 5.5 is the latest version of HTC's user interface, and it builds upon the content aggregation features first introduced in Sense 5.0. BlinkFeed can source information from more places than ever before, and for those who aren't fans, it can finally be turned off. New features have also been added all around, with some nifty new video editing functions for videophiles.
Sadly, this might be the last major upgrade the One X sees. Well-known HTC modder and insider LlabTooFeR has stated that the One X will not see Android 4.4 KitKat, although this has not been confirmed by HTC.
