Naya Rivera is set to appear in "Devious Maids."
The former "Glee" star will have a recurring role in the Lifetime series created by Marc Cherry. According to a report from Deadline, Rivera will portray the character of Blanca, "a new maid in the neighborhood who has landed a job with the seemingly picture-perfect Beverly Hills family" but a secret will soon unfold.
The 28-year-old actress previously played Santana Lopez in the musical TV series "Glee," which is currently airing its sixth and final season on Fox. She expressed her excitement on Twitter after news about her casting in "Devious Maids" got out.
Eva Longoria, who is one of the executive producers of the show, also tweeted about Rivera's casting. She posted: "So happy for @NayaRivera to join our cast of @DeviousMaids on @lifetimetv What an amazing talent to join our girls!!"
Aside from "Devious Maids," Rivera was also asked to return as a co-host on "The View" this month. Ratings of "The View" reportedly surged when Rivera's controversial comments about showering and Justin Bieber became trending topics, which also boosted the show's social media presence.
It can be recalled that last month, the Latina actress claimed on "The View" that white people shower more than those with different ethnicities, E! Online reported.
"I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnic," Rivera said, as quoted by E! Online. "I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing."
After the 28-year-old actress' statement, Rosie O'Donnell spoke to an African-American woman in the audience, who then said that she is a "frequent showerer," to which Rivera responded, "My mom is half black, half Puerto Rican. She showers every day, so I can say this."
"But I'm now married to a white man. And he showers a lot, like two, three times a day. I'm like, 'What are you doing?'" she added. Another report from Daily Mail stated that Rivera married her husband Ryan Dorsey in a secret ceremony in July 2014, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
After the controversial statement, Rivera returned to "The View" to issue an apology.
"'It was supposed to be a joke. I apologize if anyone was offended," the actress said, as quoted by Daily Mail. "I said that I thought that showering multiple times in a day was such a white person thing. However, I'm very excited that it sparked a big conversation about how many times you should shower."
