Several months ago, NBC confirmed that Jack Coleman will be returning to the small screen as Noah Bennet in the highly anticipated "Heroes" reboot. However, the network stayed mum about the details about the upcoming mini-series, and eventually, things quieted down on that front.
Then on Sunday, NBC dropped a surprise bomb on fans with a teaser trailer during the Super Bowl, and it looks amazing.
The teaser started with a mysterious figure who seemed to have called the lights along the snowy terrain. The camera pans back to show Jack Coleman's Noah Bennet, and pans even further to reveal a man with binoculars, watching the (possibly) maker of light, and Bennet.
The man with the binoculars turned out to be a new cast member: Zachary Levi from the TV series, Chuck.
The clip, titled "The Aurora" (which is fitting, considering the lights do look like the Aurora Borealis) is only the first trailer that NBC has released for "Heroes Reborn," and despite its release, there is still very few details known about the upcoming series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt said that "some of the familiar faces from the show are bound to pop in," without making it clear who will be returning, as the only castings who have been announced officially are Coleman and Levi.
That being said, even though the reboot has only been introduced in June 2014, Creator Tim Kring was open to the possibility of "Heroes" returning on the small screen since 2010. He spoke with Entertainment Weekly, saying that, "The Heroes brand is an extremely broad premise. It was a premise about ordinary people, an undisclosed number of people all over the world, who were waking up to these extraordinary abilities. We told stories in volumes that had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Those volumes could go on and on and on with many different characters. As a result, that Heroes universe is something that can be tapped into again in many ways."
And many ways it will be. For this series, Levi will be taking center stage, and he's happy about his role, the New York Post noted that in January, the actor shared to reporters, "I was a fan of their collective work and always thought it was such a fantastic and fun world they got to play in. With 'Heroes: Reborn,' I'm honored to have the opportunity to bring more of that world to life."
A lot can be expected before the actual series airs, as the New York Post noted that NBC will launch a digital series to introduce new characters and their storylines.
Check out the Super Bowl spot, are you excited to watch the new version of an old favorite series?
