Alternate history might be a thing of the future.
PlayStation brings a new trailer for "The Order: 1886," the action-shooter game developed by Ready At Dawn Studios. Set for release on Feb. 20, die-hard fans are now at the edge of their seats, geared for the PS4's newest exclusive title.
"The Order: 1886" chronicles the story of Galahad, member of an elite Knights order, in the quest to battle and defeat an ancient enemy. Set in the era of Victorian London, the game offers a unique blend of gameplay, merging vintage war details and the use of advanced technology.
Furthermore, the game fuses actual history (real world places, figures and events) with "twists on familiar myths and legends," IGN wrote. That said, prospects are bound to see history from a different angle.
Galahad is said to be an expert-tracker and hunter. He's noted to have a "calm, cool and professional" demeanor -- sounds much like a Knight-in-shining-armor.
Other characters include Sir Perceval / Sebastien Malory, Lady Igraine / Isabeau D' Argyll and Marquis de Lafayette.
Settings such as Big Ben, the Crystal Palace, the London Tube, Mayfair, the Palace of Westminster and Whitechapel are some interesting spots featured in the game. In line with its unique time-warping narrative, don't be surprised to see giant airships and electric trains.
The game also prides in its introduction of the so-called filmic vision, where players capture a vision of "stunningly" realistic and re-imagined 19th century London. It's another unique feature that replicates the feel of actual cinematography, establishing a deeper connection to realistic storyline and rich characterization. Simply put, the game might appear to be one of those epic war movies you've seen lately, "The Order: 886" Playstation page described.
Advanced technology weapons / items include Arc Gun, Thermite Rifle and Monocular. Members of the Order communicate through a wireless device. Other weapons such as Combo Gun and Flag Grenade are sure to come.
As told by developer Ready At Dawn, danger comes from all sides of the game. Conflict arises when rebels declare an all-out war against The Order and their police representation. The rise of Half-breeds, known to be the ancient foe, is another key element in the game's story.
The developer also described seamless narrative experience, which indicates the game's fluid approach to delivery of sequences. Smooth-going transitions from action to story scenes are therefore expected.
"The Order: 1886" comes in Collector's and Premium Editions. As of press time, the title may be pre-ordered here (disc and / or digital) for roughly $60.
